HLM BEAUTY
Radiance is built from the inside out.
Six daily rituals I use with clients for glowing skin, steady energy and strong, graceful aging, and the why behind every one.
Allison Imel, PA-C, FNTP, MMS
Beauty is a metabolic outcome
Your skin reflects what is happening in your cells
Collagen, glow and tone depend on steady blood sugar, strong muscle, healthy fats, minerals and calm inflammation. Each ritual below feeds one of the foundations, so the beauty you see on the outside is backed by health on the inside.
Rachael Jean's Ultimate Green Drink
A raw, organic green superfood blend of spirulina, chlorella, nettle, barley and wheat grass, alfalfa and beet root, with apple fiber, inulin and probiotics. Gluten-free and grain-free.
The why
- Spirulina, chlorella and the cereal grasses are rich in chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals, the raw materials skin uses for repair and collagen.
- Inulin and apple fiber feed your beneficial gut bacteria, and the added probiotics support a healthy gut, where clear skin starts.
- Nettle and beet root add minerals and plant compounds that support circulation and daily detoxification.
How to use: Mix into filtered water or a smoothie each morning, following the label, alongside a protein-rich breakfast. Find it at racheljeansgreens.com.
Copper GHK+ Facial Serum by Quicksilver Scientific
A hormone-free, nanoemulsified facial serum with the copper peptide GHK-Cu, vitamin C, bakuchiol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, cycloastragenol and curcumin.
The why
- GHK-Cu is a copper peptide your body makes naturally, and levels fall with age. It is studied for supporting collagen, firmness and skin repair.
- Bakuchiol is a plant-based retinol alternative that refines texture with less irritation.
- Hyaluronic acid hydrates, while vitamins C and E, cycloastragenol from astragalus root and curcumin protect skin from everyday oxidative stress.
How to use: 2 pumps daily on clean face and neck, before moisturizer. Suitable for all skin types.
The Mito Food Plan
The Institute for Functional Medicine's way of eating for your mitochondria: anti-inflammatory, low-glycemic, gluten-free, low in grains and rich in high-quality fats.
The why
- Mitochondria power every cell, including skin and muscle, and their output declines with age. Better fuel means more energy and better repair.
- Steady blood sugar limits glycation, the process where sugar stiffens collagen and ages skin.
- Colorful plants and healthy fats calm inflammation, which shows up as puffiness, redness and dullness.
How to use: Protein and healthy fat at every meal, a rainbow of vegetables, and minimal sugar, refined grains and processed food. Ask before adding fasting windows.
Building Muscle
Strength training paired with enough protein, the foundation of metabolic health and graceful aging.
The why
- Muscle is where your body stores and burns most of its blood sugar, so more muscle means better insulin sensitivity and steadier energy.
- Women lose muscle faster as estrogen falls in perimenopause and menopause. Lifting is how you hold on to it.
- Strong muscles protect bones, posture, balance and independence for decades.
How to use:
- Strength train 2โ3 times a week, all major muscle groups, adding weight or reps over time.
- Aim for about 30 g of protein per meal; your provider can set your daily target.
- Walk daily and protect sleep, when muscle actually rebuilds.
Fish Oil
The omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, which most modern diets run short on.
The why
- Omega-3s are built into the membrane of every skin cell, supporting a strong barrier that holds in moisture.
- They help your body resolve inflammation rather than stay stuck in it.
- They support heart health, including lower triglycerides, plus brain and mood.
How to use: Choose a third-party tested brand and take it with a meal. Dose is individual.
Check with your provider first if you take a blood thinner or have surgery coming up.
BEAM Minerals
Plant-based liquid trace minerals and electrolytes in fulvic and humic form, such as Micro-BOOST and Electrolyze. They taste like water.
The why
- Minerals switch on hundreds of enzymes, including those that make cellular energy and build collagen.
- Depleted soils and processed food leave many of us short on trace minerals.
- Electrolytes help water actually hydrate your cells, which shows up as plumper, brighter skin.
How to use: Add to a glass of filtered water each morning, following the label.
